Camelot teachers charged with battery

WEAR TV 3 reports that four moms in Escambia County say their children were abused by their teachers at Camelot Academy, the alternative school run by a private company hired by Superintendent Malcolm Thomas last year.

Two teachers, Jamal Tillery and Henry Calhoun, have been charged with misdemeanor battery after a student said they hit punched him for not turning over a cell phone.

There are other mothers who say their kids have been hurt here too, according to the report.

Superintendent Thomas was eager to close down A.A. Dixon Charter School, but has said little publicly about this problem, which may beyond this one incident.
