Press release: Acclaimed fundraising expert and applied democracy coach Nancy Bocskor will be in Pensacola for one day only on Saturday, Sept. 19, to lead “Relationship Fundraising for Electoral Campaigns and Non-Profit Advocacy,” a half-day workshop presented by the Institute for Women in Politics of Northwest Florida (IWP).

Relationship fundraising is cost effective, the return is high, and the results can be immediate. But, for it to work, one must understand why people give money. Different people need different approaches and, in this session, Bocskor will teach attendees techniques for moving each prospective donor from their initial interest or concern to passion to cash.

Although the session is presented by the Institute for Women in Politics, it’s not just for women and it’s not just for politicians.

“Certainly anyone running for office has to be able to raise money to fund their campaign and anyone thinking of running in the future will need to do so. But, beyond that, anyone involved with any non-profit or charitable cause, no matter how small or large, needs to be an effective fundraiser. This workshop could be invaluable to anyone who fits into any of those categories,” said Amy Miller, IWP Vice President and Education Committee Chair. She added that this will be an interactive session in which participants will learn and practice Bocskor’s proven fundraising strategies.

Relationship Fundraising for Electoral Campaigns and Non-Profit Advocacy will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Studer Group Training Facility at Maritime Park in downtown Pensacola. Space is limited to the first 30 registrants. Advance registration at http://iwpflorida.org/workshop-resources/relationship-fundraising-workshop/ is highly recommended as walkup registrations the day of the event will be accepted on a space-available basis only.

Discounted registration rates of $40 for Institute members and $69 for non-members are being offered through Sept. 11. Beginning Sept. 12, the registration fee will be $99 for all registrants. Registration includes all workshop materials, refreshments, and a copy of Bocskor’s book “Go Fish: How to Catch (and Keep) Contributors,” a $30 value.

The Institute for Women in Politics of Northwest Florida is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to achieving greater representation of women in office and government (both elected and appointed) in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties by empowering women and the community at large through outreach, training, leadership skills development and mentoring programs.
