CBS Morning News in P’cola

cover 06-07-07Shauna Newell (Independent News, “Shauna’s Story of Slavery,” June 7) met with a CBS Morning News reporter today to share her story of being tricked by a friend into going to a house where she was raped, held without food and nearly sold.

The news crew was scheduled to accompany Brad Dennis tonight on patrol as he makes his rounds asking prostitutes about unusual or underage activity. Unfortunately, the crew had to leave earlier than expected this afternoon because the television reporter landed an interview with Angelina Jolie.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office reportedly refused to send a representative to talk to the news crew because the Independent News story about Shauna made Pensacola look like a hotbed for human trafficking.
