Celebrate our Asian American chefs

In this week’s cover story, Inweekly features three up-and-coming Asian American chefs and bakers – Public Affairs Gastropub , Sucro and O.G. Lola’s.

Why this matters: May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. These chefs and bakers are making a significant impact on Pensacola’s foodie scene.

Public Affairs Gastropub: Vietnamese American Chef Doan Truong relocated from Mississippi to find a niche among the city’s explosive growth. His food truck serves Korean-flavored popcorn chicken, Cantonese char sui rice bowls, vegan crab cakes and more. He sets up outside Doc’s Hop Shop Wednesday through Sunday.

Sucro: Vietnamese American nurse Shelley Vu has succeeded at turning a love of baking into a side hustle with her macaron business Sucre. She can be found at Palafox Market on Saturdays.

O.G. Lola’s: Filipino American Mary Dee Moralita’s pop-up catering business O.G. Lola’s offers “vegan Filipino food for the soul.”
