Chalk It Up! Pensacola wants you to invest in the Northwest Florida community by supporting the third edition of, Chalk It Up!, the Pensacola Sidewalk Art Festival (chalkituppensacola.org) on May 10 at Commendencia Slip, downtown Pensacola. They are reaching out to business owners, art lovers,
festival lovers and concerned individuals to become sponsors for the event.
As a non-profit organization, Chalk It Up! relies on the generosity of others to survive. Each year various Northwest Florida charities will be chosen to receive the proceeds from Chalk It Up!
Visitors to the festival will be able to stroll along behind the artists and watch as they create their artwork, play in a kid’s area which will provide interactive activities for children, bid in a silent auction that will benefit our local organizations, hear local live music perform, and visit one of our food and merchandise vendors. Please check us out online
at http://www.chalkituppensacola.org.
This year our event will benefit the MESS Hall of Pensacola. The MESS Hall, which stands for Math, Engineering, Science & Stuff, is not your typical children’s science museum. Founded in 2012 by Dr. Megan Pratt, the MESS Hall was inspired by the popularity of the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition’s Science Saturdays. Rather than exhibits with planned outcomes, students get to work like real scientists, developing questions and creating experiments, engaging in complex reasoning and learning science just through tinkering. You can find out more about the MESS Hall at http://www. pensacolamesshall.com/.
Chalk It Up!, the Pensacola Sidewalk Art Festival, is looking for artists. They will receive one box of chalk and an assigned art space and allowed four hours to complete their work. Artwork will be judged in one of three categories. See website, chalkituppensacola.org, for details, categories and registration.
