Change of Command at County and City today

The Escambia Board of County Commissioners will hold a Special BCC Installation Meeting today at 9 a.m. at the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, 221 Palafox Place.

District 1 – Jeff Bergosh – Oath of Office/Loyalty Oath by The Honorable Judge Gary L. Bergosh and the reading of the Commission by The Honorable Pam Childers, Clerk of the Circuit Court.

District 3 – Lumon J. May – Oath of Office/Loyalty Oath by The Honorable Judge Thomas V. Dannheisser and the reading of the Commission by The Honorable Pam Childers, Clerk of the Circuit Court.

District 5 – Steven L. Barry – Oath of Office/Loyalty Oath by The Honorable Judge John Simon, Jr., and the reading of Commission by The Honorable Pam Childers, Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Commissioner Doug Underhill will take over as chairman. Commissioner Jeff Bergosh will be the vice chairman.

At 11:45 a.m, the Pensacola City Council will hold its installation in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, 222 West Main Street. The following council members will be sworn in:

District 1 – P.C. Wu
District 3 – Andy Terhaar
District 5 – Gerald Wingate
District 7 – Jewel Cannada-Wynn

The Council will then elect its president and vice president for the coming year.

Councilman Larry Johnson has nominated Wu, Terhaar, Canada-Wynn and Brian Spencer for president. Councilwoman Sheri Myers nominated Spencer. Wingate nominated himself.

For vice president, Councilman Johnson nominated Myers and Wingate. Councilwoman Myers nominated Wingate.
