Pack up your beach chairs and a blanket, and dig your toes in the sugar-white sand while watching classic family movies on Pensacola Beach this fall. The Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA) invites families and kids, young and old, to its newest event – Cinemas in the Sand movie nights on Pensacola Beach.
The three-weekend event is sponsored by Postcard Properties, FL and Postcard Realty, Inc. – sister companies offering the full suite of real estate services: sales, property management, and vacation rentals. The SRIA will host Cinemas in the Sand movie nights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for three consecutive Friday nights starting September 30 at the Gulfside Pavilion on Casino Beach.
Cinemas in the Sand showings:
- Friday, Sept. 30 – “Luca” is a 2021 computer-animated Disney and Pixar feature film which tells a coming-of-age story about a young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera. But all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface.
- Friday, Oct. 7 – “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” is a 2018 computer-animated monster comedy film by Sony Pictures which features the voices of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Jim Gaffigan, Joe Jonas and many others. In the film, Dracula finds love with a ship captain named Ericka but discovers that Ericka is actually the great-granddaughter of his arch-nemesis, Abraham Van Helsing.
- Friday, Oct. 14 – “Hocus Pocus” is a 1993 classic Disney picture about a curious youngster who moves to Salem, Mass., where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of diabolical witches, played by actresses Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, that were executed in the 17th century for witchcraft.
All three movies are free to the public and will start at sunset on a giant inflatable outdoor movie screen in front of the Gulfside Pavilion stage, weather permitting.
