WEAR TV 3 interviewed Pensacola City Manager Tom Bonfield on how the City will cut $4-$5 million from its budget. Bonfield said that it means 70-90 workers could get laid off.
From the news report:
Pensacola has 6 hundred employees eligible for job cuts. He’s not saying which departments would take the hardest hits, but does say ‘public safety’ takes the largest part of the city budget.
Folks, government jobs will be lost. I hope that they will look at the administrative levels first – assistant department heads, middle managers and their executive and administrative assistants. We can cut the budget without reducing police and firefighters that are on duty.
