The Pensacola City Council today will hold the first of two public hearings pertaining to the city’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2013.
After looking at Mayor Ashton Hayward’s proposed numbers during workshops in July, the city council decided to delay signing off on the budget until after the public had a chance to weigh in on the matter. The public will have that opportunity tonight.
During the meeting this evening, the council will be considering: tentatively levying an ad valorem tax for the city and the Downtown Improvement Board; adopting a tentative budget for the city; adopting a tentative budget for the DIB; adopting a budget for the Community Redevelopment Agency; adopting a budget for the Eastside Tax Increment Financing District.
Tonight’s meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. in the council chambers at Pensacola City Hall. The second public hearing is scheduled for the same time and place on Sept. 12.
