City manager passes on BP surety bond

Pensacola City Manager Al Coby is not recommending that City Council require BP to put up a surety bond to cover any city expenses or environmental damages and remediation costs associated with BP’s staging area in Bayou Chico.

Instead the City will use the Government Entity Claims Process for monitoring and other costs….the same process to be used by the county.

Coby is also recommending an Indemnification Agreement that BP has proposed apparently in lieu of a bond.

Read BP_Bayou_Chico_Operation_-_Monitoring_and_Remediation_memorandum_to_Council[1].

The council will discuss this in 10 days at its Committee of the Whole meeting.
