City of Pensacola releases DROP data

Thanks to the intervention of the State Attorney’s Office, the City of Pensacola Sunshine Center released the Individual DROP (Deferred Retirement Option Program) Account Statements for 63 city employees in its three pension programs. Inweekly is analyzing and assembling the information into a more readable format and should have it up tomorrow.

Adding another twist to the 13-day battle to get the DROP information, City Administrator Eric Olson sent out an email to all city employees at 6:28 p.m. on Tuesday: “The city has received a public records request for firefighter, police and general pension plan June 30th DROP statements. These have been released.”

When Florida Department of Management Services last week released the DROP information on 656 Escambia and Santa Rose employees in the Florida Retirement System, no such email was sent to them.

Inweekly asked city officials why Olson sent out his email. The reply was “a courtesy email to those involved since it contains personal financial information.”
