City Staff Politics 102

The Pensacola city staff has stopped playing politics with its council and the citizens. Last week, we pointed out on this blog that the council’s own rules and procedures prevented it from reconsidering the Pate lease amendment during its regular meetings because the amendment wasn’t passed by the Enterprise Operations Committee.

So what does staff do? It comes back with a new amended amendment. Instead of having the Enterprise Operations Committee vote on it, the new agreement is put before the Committee of the Whole – so that the African-American council members can weigh in on the issue and avoid another 2-2 deadlock in the Enterprise Operations Committee.

The political games continue.
