Class act: Sharon Barnett

One of the people that wasn’t chosen for the Pensacola Charter Review committee was attorney and former League of Women Voters chairman Sharon Barnett. On my earlier post about the committee finalist, Barnett posted:

Congratulations to the proposed Charter Review Commission members. If they are approved by Council, I wish them well and hope they are successful in proposing a sound charter for the consideration of city voters. As I told the Nominating Committee, Pensacola needs to adopt a comprehensive charter that incorporates appropriate checks and balances, including a clear updated referendum provision, and suits Pensacola’s particular character and demographics. I am glad I was able to facilitate charter review, and I thank those who were instrumental in obtaining review, including Janet deLorge, Sam Hall, John Peacock, and Leroy Boyd. They represent divergent interests and that is a good sign for Pensacola.

Barnett would have made an excellent committee member.
