Climate Impact Day

Local environmentalists will gather downtown this Saturday to take part in the planet-wide Climate Impacts Day.

According to a press release issued by 350 Pensacola—a local environmental organization—the event will offer an opportunity for “Northwest Florida citizens to join people from across the planet using their minds, voices and imagery to connect the dots between the causes, effects and solutions to the climate crisis.”

The local Climate Impacts Day will be held May 5, beginning a 10 a.m., at Plaza de Luna downtown. Organizations participating locally include 350 Pensacola, the University of West Florida Student Environmental Action Society (S.E.A.S) and Bikes Plus.

The event will feature bicycle safety checks, discussion groups and a yet to be announced music concert. Participants will also be ‘Connecting the Dots.’ According to the press release: “holding large dots, people will rally in a circle to connect the dots by making brief remarks about sea level rise, heat waves, wild fires, stronger hurricanes, ocean acidification and other impacts of climate change.”
