Cohen named new city planner for Key West


Thaddeus Cohen, the former Community Development director of the city of Pensacola, has been hired as the city planning director for Key West. His annual salary is $122,500, and will report for work on March 30.

Cohen, an architect,served as secretary of the Florida Department of Community Affairs for Jeb Bush before joining the city of Pensacola in 2008, under City Manager Tom Bonfield. After Al Coby succeeded Bonfield as city manager, Cohen later became the assistant city manager, which the city of Pensacola one of the few Florida cities with African-Americans in its two top administrative positions.

Mayor Ashton Hayward chose not to retain his services once he assumed office.
