Community Health asks ‘Just give it one more shot’

Community Health Northwest Florida is launching its flu vaccine campaign to raise awareness about the flu and encourage everyone to receive their annual flu shot.

Why it matters: CHNWF recommends everyone six months and older receive a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against the flu virus. September and October are considered the best months to get vaccinated against the virus before the season is in full swing.

Dig Deeper: “We know people are tired of talking about shots,” said Chandra Smiley, CHNWF CEO. “But from all indications, this is going to be a bad flu season. The campaign is just our way of connecting with our community and saying, ‘Yeah, we know, how you feel, but your health is important.’ ”

Community Health designed the “Just Give It One More Shot” campaign to help combat “vaccine fatigue” by providing information about how flu shots are the best defense against flu-related illness, hospitalization and death. The organization’s social media posts and flyers will carry a QR code that will direct patients to the reasons they should get a flu shot this season: https://healthcarewithinreach.org/reasons-to-get-a-flu-shot/ .

Flu shots can be scheduled by contacting any Community Health Northwest Florida provider’s offices or by visiting one of their four pharmacy locations. For more info, visit healthcarewithinreach.org.
