PENSACOLA, Fla. (Jan. 7, 2022) – The Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation announced Friday that it will postpone the annual Cordova Mall Ball in Pensacola due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the community.
The Cordova Mall Ball, which was scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 29, will be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined. The Mall Ball is the largest fund-raising event held each year to benefit the Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart. Since its start 27 years ago, the event has raised $6.4 million to support care of sick and injured children at the region’s only pediatric hospital.
“As cases of COVID-19 once again rise in our community, we have made this difficult decision which is consistent with our view that the safety of our donors, associates, supporters, volunteers and the community must remain our number one priority,” said Carol Carlan, president of the Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation. “This disheartening development does not overshadow the incredible efforts made by the Foundation staff, committee members, and volunteers who make this event possible.”
The Foundation intends to raise funds this year to support the purchase of a new “Miracles in Motion†Pediatric Transport vehicle for those children from across the region who are in critical need of treatment at the Children’s Hospital.
