Cottage Foods Class

Escambia County will host an informational session for people interested in selling foods made in their homes.

The Escambia County Extension office is offering a one-night course entitled Cottage Foods: Starting Your Own Business. The program is geared toward those currently marketing and selling processed foods, or those interested in doing so. Cottage foods are foods made in the home for resale that do not require refrigeration; such as jams, jellies and honey.

The program will cover Florida’s new cottage food regulations, marketing and sanitation. There will also be opportunities for a question-and-answer session.

The class cost $5 and will be conducted via a conference call June 4 at 6 p.m. Participants must preregister by contacting Fran Lainhart at 457-5230, or via email at lainhaf@ufl.edu.
