From Councilwoman Sherri Myers:
I am hosting a Town Hall meeting to provide City Council District 2 residents and businesses with an opportunity to have input on how the city and the county should spend future Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) funds. Because the LOST is a county initiated referendum, I have invited Escambia County Commissioner Grover Robinson to attend the meeting and give an overview of the LOST process and the types of projects that can be implemented with the funds. City Council District 2 is in Escambia County District 4, represented by Commissioner Robinson.
LOST funds are a small additional sales tax that is generated by a sales transaction. The funds have raised millions of dollars to address infrastructure and capital projects in the city and the county. As the result of the flooding and devastation caused by the April 29, 2014, flood there is a need to re-assess projects the city and the county plan to fund with the future LOST
The boundaries of City Council District 2 run north from Barcia Street to Olive Road and east from Davis High to 12th Ave. District 2 is located in Uptown Pensacola the City’s main commercial core with Cordova Mall, Sacred Health System, Pensacola State College, and Pensacola International Airport. City and County residents are urged to attend.
