County commission studies justice system

At last, the Escambia County commissioners recognize that there just may be a problem with the local criminal justice system. Usually I hate studies (this one will cost $140K), but I have repeatedly written on this blog and in the IN that our local justice system is broken. We can’t arrest, bring to trial and jail everyone for the slightest infractions (Read Are You Immune To Arrest? )

From PNJ article:

County commissioners voted unanimously Thursday to request proposals for a qualified consultant to conduct the study. The county is using a 2006 criminal justice study by Okaloosa County as a model because of its success. Okaloosa’s jail population was at an all-time high of 900 inmates and fell to fewer than 650 this year after implementing many of the study’s recommendations.
