Escambia County issued an update this morning without mentioning any information on the COVID-19 infections in one, possibly two, long-term care facilities. The update, received at 10:50 a.m., also failed to report the seven county employees  in self-isolation after making an emergency call in Walnut Hill. (Read NorthEscambia and PNJ).
Covering the county government has been become a game of hide-and-seek. Â They hide information until we find it.
The update included a spreadsheet that the media had been sent last night; the latest case count available on DOH dashboard; news of the third COVID-19 death that we all reported last night or this morning; and asked people to complete StrongerThan C-19Â survey – which has been out for a week.
Meanwhile, County Administrator Janice Gilley reportedly has said that she would not hold another press conference until “there was new information above and beyond the SITREP and news releases to report.â€
An highly infected nursing home, possibly two, Â and seven first-responders in self-isolation after a single call might be considered a “new information above and beyond the SITREP and news releases” for some county administrators. Â Will it be enough in Escambia County?
Apparently not. Â Ms. Gilley chose instead to issue a written statement about the nursing homes.

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Department of Health released updated numbers Thursday morning about the coronavirus in the state. Here are some takeaways:
— 16,364: Total number of cases.
— 908: Increase in cases from a Wednesday morning count.
— 354: Deaths of Florida residents.
— 45: Increase in deaths from a Wednesday morning count.
— 2,149: Florida residents hospitalized.
— 193: Increase in hospitalizations from a Wednesday morning count.
— 528: Cases involving residents or staff members of long-term care facilities.
— 113: Increase in cases involving long-term care facilities from a Wednesday morning count.
— 16: Cases involving residents or staff members of long-term care facilities in Bradford County.
— 20: Total number of cases in Bradford County.
— 12: Cases involving residents or staff members of long-term care facilities in Baker County.
— 16: Total number of cases in Baker County.

SHOWTIME Postponed
Greetings PCC Supporters!
Like so many of you, the Pensacola Children’s Chorus is making the best of the social and physical distancing recommendations so that our singers, families, volunteers, staff, and community remain safe and healthy. With that said, we are committed to keeping our community vibrant and engaged even though we are apart.
Your generosity over the course of this season has enabled our staff to create innovative programs and initiatives during this time of quarantine. Additionally, we are working diligently to serve as advocates for our local arts community and nonprofit community. I predict these efforts will make a lasting impact on the future of our organization once the new “normal” is defined.
As you have likely expected, we have made the decision to postpone Showtime until further notice. Luckily, with our online learning programs (see below), we are committed to bringing Showtime to life for our community once physical and social distancing requirements are lifted. Once we have more details, we will be sure to share them with you.
As schooling moves online and many beloved activities and events are canceled, the Pensacola Children’s Chorus is still able to fulfill its mission of changing lives and transforming our community through music. This is made possible because of you!
