Here’s the latest statement from Escambia County regarding the fire at the Cove Landfill:
The Florida Department of Health Escambia County Health Department has lifted the health advisory that was issued on January 22, 2013 regarding health risks associated with smoke from a local fire. The FDOH Escambia County Health Department has been informed that the debris fire, located in the Ensley area of Escambia County, Florida has been extinguished and environmental health inspectors have confirmed that the resultant smoke has dissipated.
Persons who believe they are experiencing residual health problems or symptoms related to the smoke should contact their primary care physician. For medical emergencies call 911 or go immediately to the nearest emergency department.
As of this morning, there are no smoke, flames, odor or ashes. There have been two consecutive days with zero impact on the school.
