From DOH: Today, as of 11 a.m., there are 5,473 total Florida cases.
While Florida’s testing has increased over the past week, the percent of those testing positive for COVID-19 overall is 10 percent. Of the 7,755 tests performed on March 29, there were 1,018 positive results, or 13 percent.
Three more people have died who tested positive for COVID-19 in DeSoto, Okaloosa and Palm Beach counties.
New Florida cases include:
- 523 additional positive COVID-19 cases (508 Florida residents and 15 non-Florida residents) reported to the Florida Department of Health.
- There are currently 5,276 positive cases in Florida residents and 197 positive cases in non-Florida residents.
Pensacola Fire Chief Ginny Cranor announced at the mayor’s Monday presser today that one firefighter has tested positive. The virus is travel-related and the firefight was one of the city employees sent home for self-quarantine.
Mayor Grover Robinson announced that about 80% of the results of tests conducted at the Ascension Sacred Heart drive-thru facility have now been returned. It’s uncertain whether they are completely related in the 11 a.m. DOH statistics.
In five days, Florida’s cases have increased by 3,791. Escambia has gone from 14 positive cases to 37 (more than tripled); Okaloosa 16 to 31, nearly doubled; and Santa Rosa County from 7 to 30, more than quadrupled. Â The good news is the DOH dashboard is reporting there has been no increase in hospitalizations in those three counties.

Escambia County’s morning COVID-19 update reported that 49 COVID-19 samples were collected on Sunday – 26 by hospitals, 23 by drive-thru sites.
FDOH-Escambia is limiting public access to the Fairfield facility as a method of protecting the health of their clients and staff. Services will continue to be available for persons with appointments (or receiving the service). A parent or guardian may accompany a minor child if the child is receiving the service.
