COVID-19: Only one Escambia case is travel-related and more info

BY THE NUMBERS: CORONAVIRUS — MONDAY AFTERNOON EDITION

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Department of Health released updated numbers Monday about the coronavirus in the state. Here are some takeaways:

— 1,171: Number of confirmed cases in Florida.

— 341: Increase in cases since a Sunday morning count.

— 14: Deaths of Florida residents, after a death in Palm Beach County.

— 33: Cases involving residents of long-term care facilities.

— 14: Cases involving residents of long-term care facilities in Duval County.

— 12: Cases involving residents of long-term care facilities in Broward County.

— 45: Percentage of cases involving people ages 30 to 59.

— 37: Percentage of cases involving people 60 and older.

— 47: Counties with confirmed cases.

— 20: Counties without confirmed cases.

— 267: Cases in Miami-Dade County, the largest number in the state.

— 6: Counties with one case each (Bay, Bradford, DeSoto, Gadsden, Jackson and Nassau.)

Cox Makes Additional Changes Connect2Compete Program for Students Learning from Home

 As the COVID-19 continues to force schools to shift to online learning, Cox is announcing more temporary changes to its low-cost service Connect2Compete. To ensure digital equity for low-income students without internet at home, starting today, Cox is extending its Connect2Compete program for qualifying families from 30 days free to 60 days of free service.  This offer applies to internet customers who enrolled in C2C starting on March 13, and is available to new customers through May 15.  The service is regularly $9.95 a month and comes with a free WiFi modem, which can be drop shipped to a customer’s home for self-installation.
