COVID-19 roller coaster

The roller coaster of COVID-19 test results in Escambia County continues with a spike of 18 new positives and another COVID-related death. The 18 new positives are the most for Escambia since Sunday, May 3.

Where were the samples of the 18 new cases taken? We don’t know.  Maybe it’s the Underhill jinx striking again.

DOH Escambia only entered 121 new test results – 14.9% were positive.

AHCA report on long-term care facilities is unreliable because numbers fluctuate daily and aren’t cumulative.

The county surveillance report shows that four of the new cases were non-Florida residents. The 14 Florida cases break down as follows:  2 blacks and 12 unknown ethnicity; 5 were male, 7 female. The death was a white person.

Escambia School District Update

Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has announced that end-of-year student grades/report cards will be available electronically this year, as paper copies will not be mailed for the end of 2019-2020 school year. To assist in establishing and/or accessing their student’s Focus™ Parent Portal account, new instructional videos are now available on the district web page: http://ecsd-fl.schoolloop.com/focuspp. This effectively consolidates the resources parents will need to establish an account, navigate their account, and learn about new settings available in their Focus™ Parent Portal account.

Students will be completing assignments through the last day of school, Friday, May 22. Parents with Focus™ accounts will be able to view student grades as they are entered during the last week of school, and finalized for each class or subject area. Final report cards will be posted to the Focus™ Parent Portal by June 3. Parents unable to access final grades and report cards electronically should contact their child’s school, and request a printed copy, which can be mailed if necessary.
