COVID-19: Saturday afternoon report – update

Update 6 p.m.:  The new county analysis has been added.

Today, the Florida Department of Health announced that the Department will now release this report on COVID-19 cases in Florida once per day. The Florida Department of Health COVID-19 dashboard will also provide updates once per day.

What that means has yet to determined. – See Below

According to the data supplied, DOH Escambia entered 376 new cases since last night, of which 8 were positive – 2.2%. There were no increases in long-term care facility cases since last night- which indicates the results of nearly 1000+ specimens collected a local nursing homes have not come back,  even though EOC has told us the results only take 24-48 hours.

PDF version of the summary reports – FL_County_25APR2020. The data for Escambia County is different from what FDOH reported on its dashboard. At 6 p.m. Apr 23, Escambia had 5,554 tests and at the same time on Apr 24 the total was 5,761—new tests 207. The new report shows 214 tests for April 24. The positives went from 420 to 434 – an increase of 14 or 6.8%. The new report shows 20 positives – 9.3%.

Maybe a few of the tests entered this morning were dated April 24? The reporting system will be out around 11 a.m. or noon Central daily and will capture the previous day’s totals. Inweekly will still try to verify the data.
