The City of Pensacola has named Fred Crenshaw as the new Sanitation Services and Fleet Management Director, responsible for overseeing Code Enforcement, Fleet Management and Sanitation Services for the city.
Crenshaw has worked for City of Pensacola Sanitation Services and Fleet Management for over 20 years, starting his career with the city in December 2001 as a Sanitation Equipment Operator. Crenshaw has served as the City of Pensacola’s Interim Sanitation Director since Feb. 1, 2022, and he will officially begin his new role as Sanitation Director on Friday, July 22. 
“I am honored to have been selected for this position, and I look forward to continuing my long career with the City of Pensacola Sanitation Services in a new leadership capacity,” Crenshaw said. “We have a fantastic team of employees dedicated to serving our residents, and I’m excited to continue working with our team to provide the highest level of service to our community.”
The Sanitation Services and Fleet Management Department is responsible for providing dependable, efficient sanitation services to city residents and businesses by collecting garbage, trash and recycling, along with enforcing municipal ordinances and state statutes that pertain to code violations. The department also operates the city’s Central Garage, which maintains the fleet of city vehicles, from automobiles and trucks to specialized equipment.
As the Sanitation Services and Fleet Management Director, Crenshaw will lead the department’s operations, including residential garbage, recycling, yard trash and bulk waste collections, along with the city’s refuse transfer station.
A Pensacola native, Crenshaw graduated from Pensacola High School and has dedicated over 20 years to serving Pensacola residents, earning numerous promotions throughout his career with City of Pensacola Sanitation Services. Crenshaw’s broad knowledge and experience includes customer service and management, heavy equipment and machinery, solid waste treatment, and more.
Crenshaw’s responsibilities as Sanitation Director will include remaining up to date on industry best practices, forming policies and procedures for the department, managing the department budget, maintaining and improving department operations, and preparing items for action at City Council meetings, among other duties.
