Crime and the City

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office has map that graphically shows what crimes have been committed and where in the county. The westside of the City of Pensacola –south of Fairfield Drive and between I-110 and Pace Blvd—has been hit hard over the past seven days: 10 assaults and batteries, 1 rape, 2 robberies, 2 burglaries, 3 motor vehicle burglaries and 14 thefts. The rape happened within two miles of Pensacola City Hall.

In contrast on the east side of I-110 inside the city that crime is a fraction of that with only 2 assaults and batteries and one attempted sexual assault on Gregory Street. East of Bayou Texar there is hardly any crime reported in the last seven days.

….and tonight the Pensacola City Council will deal with chicken coops and golf carts.
