The latest poll by Human Events and Gravis Marketing has Democrat Charlie Crist ahead of Gov. Rick Scott by 10 points, 46 to 36. The poll was taken from November 8th to the 10th, and surveyed 932 random registered voters.
Crist was in town today and the local media was given a few minutes with him at the Hilton on Pensacola Beach. Crist had a huge lead in 2010 over Marco Rubio when they were running in the GOP primary for the U.S. Senate. That lead eventually evaporated, forcing Crist out of the Republican Party and led to him running in the 2010 general election as an independent.
I asked Crist, who served as Florida governor from 2008-2011, how he does plan to keep the lead this time?
He believes the voters’ attitudes will be different in 2014.
“Usually in campaigns people are either motivated by fear or hope, said Crist. “I believe in this race they will be motivated by both. They are hopeful for a better future for Florida than we are experiencing right now–whether its the economy, education or the environment.”
He said, “They want better. I don’t think they are satisfied with what they have right now. I’m not and I don’t think I’m that unusual as relates it to my fellow Floridians, especially the middle class.”
“They don’t have an advocate right now.”
