Culinary Productions adding event venue

Culinary Productions will open a new event venue this November at the corner of Tarragona and Wright streets.

Why this matters: The 5000-sq.-ft. event space will allow Mike DeSorbo, owner of Culinary Productions, to host events for 200-plus people for daytime and nighttime events.

For many years, Culinary Productions’ owner Mike DeSorbo has dreamed of owning and operating a downtown event venue to host weddings, reunions, birthdays, corporate events and more. For the past five years, DeSorbo has been looking in earnest for the perfect venue that offered the right amount of space in the right location.

“I was meeting with a friend and he asked if I had looked at the old Snack Crate building on Tarragona and Wright Streets,” said DeSorbo. “We immediately got up from his office and went to look at it. I knew right away I was interested. It seemed to be the right location and a space that we could bring the same elegance we bring to our catering.”

That friend was realtor Danny Zimmern, who had known that the building’s owners were looking to lease out part of their new space.

“Whitesell-Green was in the process of building out their office space in one part of the building and were looking for a tenant for the remainder of the building,” said Zimmern. “It was a perfect fit, and Mike will soon realize his dream and be hosting events there before the end of the year.”

“We plan to be finished with all of the renovations by September and are taking reservations now for November,” said DeSorbo. “We’re super excited to introduce everyone to the new space — it’s going to be a versatile, beautiful venue people are going to love.”
