Culture wins

coffeeThe Committee of the Whole of the Pensacola city council approved spending up to $6 million more on the renovation and expansion of the Saenger Theater. The city will use funds from a capital improvement bond.

Our cultural organizations – Pensacola Children’s Chorus, Opera, Symphony and others – are assets that greatly improve the overall quality of life here. They separate us from Destin and Orange Beach. They need the Saenger. It is also a cornerstone of the downtown economy.
The renovation has been needed for a long time and will further extend the life of the facility and make it even more viable for groups to use.
