Daily Outtakes: Another Sheriff Show Car

Simmons Adds to Car Collection

Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons’ foundation has purchased a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air and gifted it to his agency.

Purpose of foundation: “We will support the heroes of the sheriff’s office — direct support for heroes in times of need, gifts to give back to them, lunches, feed them on holidays. And the other thing we’ll do is support their engagement in the community, help fund the movie nights, the blazer academy,” Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Foundation Vice President Whitney Lucas told WEAR-TV at his Cops, Cars & Crawfish fundraiser this spring.

Why this matters: Sheriff Simmons told NorthEscambia.com: “This gift allows us to acknowledge the dedication and sacrifice of those who have proudly served at the Sheriff’s Office throughout our 200-year history.”

Dig Deeper: Last summer, the Simmons’ foundation paid to redesign and wrap a 2016 Corvette Z06 C7 from a felony seizure.

Using PNS against DeSantis

After Gov. Ron DeSantis criticized California during a recent campaign trip to San Francisco, Wayne Dupree, a conservative media personality and Trump supporter, shared tweets of homeless encampments in Pensacola, Gainesville and Jacksonville. Read Newsweek.

What did DeSantis say in a one-minute video: “We came in here and we saw people defecating on the street. We saw people using heroin. We saw people smoking crack cocaine.”

1000 Pounds of Publicity

1000-Lb. Sisters star Amy Slaton drew attention last week by rocking a black bikini while filming season 5 on Pensacola Beach. The TLC film crew followed her on the beach near the fishing pier.

TikTok user Autumn Hogan caught Slaton, her family and the crew on the beach:
