Daily Outtakes: Baptist buys OLF 8

Baptist Hospital plans to announce later today that the healthcare system has bought OLF 8, where it will build a new campus next to Navy Federal Credit Union and near Baldwin County, Ala. – one of the nation’s fastest-growing metropolitan areas.

Hospital officials said the relocation will allow the hospital to provide patients with better access to care and improved services. They pledge to maintain a “significant presence” on Brent Lane and will dispel rumors that the move was being made because the hospital ran out of things to name for donors.

Mayor D.C. Reeves wasn’t enthused about having to go back to the Florida Legislature for funds to demolish the second Baptist Hospital campus in two years, but he called it a “twice in a lifetime opportunity” for the City of Pensacola.

The Waffle House on Nine Mile Road praised the move.
