VITAS Healthcare Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chemed Corporation, has entered into an agreement on March 12 to acquire all hospice operations and an assisted living facility from Covenant Health and Community Services, Inc. d/b/a/ Covenant Care for an aggregate purchase price of $85 million.

Covenant’s hospice operations span the panhandle of Florida and Alabama, specifically including the Tallahassee, Marianna, Fort Walton Beach, Panama City, Crestview and Pensacola markets in Florida, and the Dothan and Mobile/Daphne markets in Alabama.

Dig Deeper: In 1983, Don Gaetz founded VITAS Healthcare Corporation with a group of investors, which he later sold for nearly half a billion dollars in 2004.

The House on Wednesday passed a bipartisan bill – 352-65-1 vote – that would force China-based ByteDance to sell TikTok or face a ban in the U.S.

Our Congressman Matt Gaetz voted against the ban.

Florida Politics reporter Jacob Ogles found irony in vote:

—@JacobOgles: Only no votes on the TikTok ban in the Florida delegation were @MattGaetz,@MaxwellFrostFL and @gregsteube. And that’s likely the last time I ever write about those three members voting the same on a controversial vote ever.
