Daily Outtakes: DeSantis on the telly

DeSantis to do Interviews

The Wall Street Journal reports that Gov. Ron DeSantis will begin to do interviews with newspapers and media outside his safe zone.

Why this matters: DeSantis has regularly attacked newspapers that he called “legacy newspapers,” including the New York Times, Washington Post and Miami Herald, because they refused to be cheerleaders and asked more pointed questions.

Dig Deeper: The strategy hasn’t worked, and DeSantis continues to trail Trump in the poll.

DeSantis has got to break out of the Trump bubble and attract voters other than those who only read, listen and watch right-wing conspiracy propaganda.

Homers Fly

Troy Johnston had just hit two home runs, helped tie the franchise team record with five in a game and provided the deciding runs Sunday in the Blue Wahoos 10-8 win against the Beau Rivage (Biloxi) Shuckers.

Why this matters: With the win, the Blue Wahoos split the six-game series against Biloxi and evened their second-half record to 6-6, 47-33 overall.

Next Game: The Blue Wahoos will resume their schedule on July 14 on the road against the Birmingham Barons for a three-game series. They will return home to Blue Wahoos Stadium to begin a six-game homestand on July 18 against the Rocket City Trash Pandas, the Los Angeles Angels’ affiliate, who will make their only appearance this year in Pensacola.
