Daily Outtakes: Friday morning round-up

THE DEATH OF PENSACOLA’S RADIO STATION – WCOA
WCOA is unique because it was owned by the City of Pensacola and broadcast from City Hall. For Sena and me, “Real News with Rick Outzen” was a tribute to the station’s and Pensacola’s shared history. We shunned the standard Newstalk format and focused on bringing newsmakers on the show so that our listeners could understand issues without a biased filter. We also had a special relationship with ABC News. Their reporters didn’t just offer sound bites; they engaged in conversations and became our friends.

Sena received this email yesterday:

Sena! I am so very sorry to hear this news! You and Rick are always so engaging and easygoing in the mornings and all of our correspondents were always happy to see your station on their call sheet!

The very best of luck to you both. It is a very scary time in the industry — and incredibly sad. I hope you both find success and thrive in the future.

All my best,

Sarah

A rumor was floated yesterday that Rep. Matt Gaetz resigned from the current Congress, but he could still sworn in the next one in January. However, his resignation covered the 118th Congress and 119th Congress.

His resignation was read in the House of Representatives: “I do not intend to take the oath of office for the same office in the 119th Congress to pursue the position of Attorney General in the Trump Administration.”
