Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed HB 1645, making climate change less of a priority in state law and banning expansion of wind turbines in Florida.
The new law also removes a requirement for state and local governments to buy the most fuel-efficient vehicles when replenishing their fleets.
DeSantis defended the measure as “restoring sanity in our approach to energy and rejecting the agenda of the radical green zealots.”
Our delegation – Sen. Doug Broxson, Rep. Alex Andrade, Rep. Joel Rudman and Rep. Michelle Salzman – voted for the bill despite GE Wind, now known as GE Vernova, being a major employer in Escambia County. Read “GE investing more into Pensacola plant.”
