Daily Outtakes – More Downtown Remotes coming

Nearly 98 years after its first broadcast, WCOA returned to Pensacola City Hall – now the Pensacola Museum of History, thanks to the help of the UWF Historic Trust.

With Mayor D.C. Reeves in Tallahassee lobbying for funds for the Pensacola International Airport, Baptist demolition, and the Bay Bluffs Park, his Economic Development and Neighborhood Service director, Erica Grancanola, presented a resolution marking the station’s milestone.

We’ve already begun planning our next remote. Stay tuned.

Doctors with a Heart

Terrezza Optical Group has opened registration for the 37th annual Doctors with a Heart program. This program provides low-income, uninsured patients with free eye exams and eyeglasses on Feb. 14.

Patients begin the process by calling to register with one of the practice’s participating locations – Milton, Palafox, or Fairfield in Pensacola or the Foley office. A staff member will follow up with each registrant to conduct a brief phone interview to determine if they qualify and schedule an appointment on Feb. 14.

Held each year on Valentine’s Day, Doctors with a Heart originated in 1987 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, when a local dentist established the national day of service to provide quality dental care to those in need. Over the years, the program expanded to include various healthcare disciplines, including eye care.

“Doctors with a Heart has become a tradition our providers and staff look forward to participating in each year,” said Dr. Gene Terrezza. “It’s an opportunity to give back to our community and provide resources that can substantially improve someone’s quality of life.”

Program openings with Terrezza Optical are on a first-come-first-come basis, and patients are encouraged to call as soon as possible to begin the process. For contact numbers or additional information on Doctors with a Heart, visit TerrezzaOptical.com.
