Daily Outtakes: Navarre Park warning, TSA PreCheck

Don’t Drink or Swim in the Water

Pensacola BeachThe Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County (DOH-Santa Rosa) has issued a water quality advisory for Navarre Park, 8513 Navarre Parkway in south Santa Rosa County

Why this matters:

The health department advises against any water-related activities at this location due to the potential for high bacteria levels. Bacteriological sampling conducted during regular water quality monitoring showed that the level of bacteria exceeds the level established by state guidelines.

  • The health department will continue to monitor the water quality in this area biweekly and routinely advise the public of the results.

Dig Deeper:

Water samples taken on Aug. 7 found 70.5 or greater Enterococcus sp per 100 ml of marine water. Enterococci can cause UTIs, bacteremia, IE, meningitis, intra-abdominal infections, and wound infections.

  • Navarre Park has had similar poor ratings from samples taken on July 12, July 10, June 28 and June 26. That last good sample was take on July 24.
