Daily Outtakes: Opening Doors gives itself $$$

The Continuum of Care (CoC) is required to notify community partners and key stakeholders of the final version of the CoC Consolidated Application and CoC Priority Listing on its website.

The CoC – which is run by Opening Doors – gave Opening Doors nearly two-thirds ($456,511) of the monies approved by HUD ($701,502). The scoring committee is labeled “OD Scoring Committee” on its timeline.

And Opening Doors Executive Director John Johnson wonders why we question how his organization operates.

Real Change

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Pensacola will host the Real Change community partner event at the Brownsville Community Center today from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Real Change is a free event that focuses on opioid addiction education and introduces attendees to the various resources available in the community.

Attendees will receive a variety of free services, including:

Free lunch
Transportation to and from the event courtesy of ECAT (must be wearing the Real Change wristband)
Free haircuts
Community supportive services
Florida ID services
Veteran supportive services
Legal services
Healthcare
Addiction and Substance Abuse Education
Homeless Prevention Education
Suicide Prevention Education

Additionally, attendees will learn about Escambia County’s CORE program at 12:30 p.m., which is a one-of-its-kind addiction and opioid recovery program.

Residents are encouraged to attend this free, informative event to learn more about the resources Escambia County and the City of Pensacola offer to those seeking resources and educational opportunities related to fighting drug addiction.

The winners of the drawing for the 2022 entries for a Florida quota liquor license were announced on Monday. Santa Rosa County’s license went to Christina Acker Reitano of Pompano Beach.
