Okaloosa Deputy Fired
The Washington Post reports the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office announced Deputy Eddie Duran had been fired after an internal investigation found that his use of deadly force, which ended in the death of declared Senior Airman Roger Fortson, was “not objectively reasonable.”
This tragic incident should never have occurred. The objective facts do not support the use of deadly force as an appropriate response to Mr. Fortson’s actions. Mr. Fortson did not commit any crime. By all accounts, he was an exceptional airman and individual.” – Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden said in a news release.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has not released anything on its investigation of the shooting. State Attorney Ginger Madden has made no comment.
