According to the agenda, a presentation with a location map will be provided outlining options to be considered for affordable housing redevelopment. The presentation was not included in the agenda packet.
Mayor D.C. Reeves has said that he would like the land used for affordable housing.
“I’ve got some questions just in the community out and about what’s going to happen at the property, what kind of affordable housing should it be,” he said at his Feb 6 presser. “Now, obviously, you guys know my opinion, I think, and this isn’t just my opinion, it’s what the community has told us through data, through surveys, that affordable housing is a major, major issue.”
- The 2023 Quality of Life survey revealed 87% of those surveyed countywide felt negatively about the availability of affordable housing. For city residents, 92% felt the availability was either poor or fair.
