Daily Outtakes: Trust meets today

The Escambia Children’s Trust meets at 9 a.m. today in the Escambia County Commission chambers. This will be the first meeting for the new executive director, Lindsey Cannon, who reported to work on Monday.

Trust Finances
The Trust has $24.5 million in the bank and $851,890 in total liabilities, according to the financial reports in the agenda packet.

Presentations
The board will have presentations from Legal Services of North Florida and Youth Left Behind.  The Trust staff provided no information on the reimbursements made to these companies, or any status reports received.

In December 2022, the board approved paying Legal Services of North Florida up to $617,034 to provide expanded representation for children in court hearings and administrative hearings.

In September 2023, Youth Left Behind Corp was awarded $93,982 for its After-School Peer Empowerment Program, which will serve children in grades 6-12 living in the Silurian Pond Apartments in the 32505 ZIP code.

Outcomes:
*100% of children graduate high school or complete a GED
*100% of children do not enter the juvenile justice system

Contract Renewal
They will also vote on renewing the Children’s Home Society’s contract.

Other
The agenda listed reports from Interim Executive Director Tammy Abrams and the board’s attorney, Meredith Bush. However, no information about their reports was provided.
