Daily Outtakes: VP in, Project 2025 director out

Jeff Nall, a delegate to the Democratic National Convention from our area, shared that only one candidate qualified for the virtual roll-call ballot to replace President Joe Biden at the top of the ticket.: Vice President Kamala Harris.

  • No other candidate met the threshold of securing 300 delegate signatures.

About 4,000 ballots will be sent to delegates on a rolling basis beginning at 8 a.m. today. They must be returned by 5 p.m. on Monday, August 5.

The Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago from Aug. 19 to 22.

Project 2025 Chaos

Paul Dans, who has headed the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025,  has stepped down, according to an announcement on Tuesday.

  • Before joining the Heritage Foundation, Dans was chief of staff at the Office of Personnel Management during the Trump administration.

In the statement, Foundation president Kevin Roberts said, “When we began Project 2025 in April 2022, we set a timeline for the project to conclude its policy drafting after the two party conventions this year, and we are sticking to that timeline,”

Former President Trump has increasingly tried to distance himself from Project 2025. Yesterday, the campaign issued a statement denouncing Project 2025, as Democrats made it a campaign issue.

“Reports of Project 2025’s demise would be greatly welcomed and should serve as notice to anyone or any group trying to misrepresent their influence with President Trump and his campaign— it will not end well for you.”
