It’s one of those stories that’s so horrific that you don’t want to hear it. Mothers are suppose to love their babies, take care of their babies, protect their babies against the evils of the world…not callously abandon them.
Unfortunately it appears that Christian Woods (age 21) did just that over this past weekend. Woods left her 18-month-old twin girls, Myleaha and Mykayhala, and her son, Jaterius (age 2), in their Bellview home without electricity and water and on with, according to ESCO reports. Woods have left the children in the home with only six containers of Jell-o while she went to Mobile for the weekend.
On Monday, Ms. Woods tried to report that Myleaha was missing. Investigators suspected something was wrong with Woods’ story. When they went to the Bellview residence Monday night, they found the baby dead in a trash can. Her twin sister, Myleahya Woods, was suffering from severe malnutrition and neglect and was found listless under a bed. Law enforcement thought at first she was dead, until they say a slight flutter in her eyes.
Mykayhala was rushed to a hospital where she is being treated for severe malnourishment and pneumonia. Her older brother, Jaterius, is also in the hospital. The surviving children are in the custody of the Department of Children and Families. Caseworkers will determine what will happen to the children once an investigation is complete.
The mom , Christian Woods, has been charged with manslaughter and two counts of felony child abuse. She has a first court appearance Wednesday.
