DeSantis appoints alums to other Boards of Trustees

Governor Ron DeSantis announced the reappointment of Peter Collins to the Florida State University Board of Trustees.

Peter Collins is the Co-Founder and Managing Principal of Forge Capital Partners, LLC. and the Chief Executive Officer of Forge’s real estate private equity fund business. Active in his community, he is the Vice President of Boy Scouts of America Greater Tampa Bay Area Council’s Executive Committee, a member of the Urban Land Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centers, serves on the Board of the Florida Council of 100, and is the former Chair of the State of Florida’s Pension Investment Advisory Council.

Collins earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and his master’s degree in business administration from Florida State University.

Gov. DeSantis also announced the reappointment of William J. Christy to the University of Central Florida Board of Trustees.

William J. Christy is the President and Chief Executive Officer of CLASH Endurance. An experienced entrepreneur, he founded Cognitive Kinetics, Inc. where he currently serves as the Executive Chairman. Christy has launched multiple successful startup companies and played a key role in the design and production of several medical devices.

Christy earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and his master’s degree in business administration from Rollins College.

Some Tallahassee insiders have shared with my colleague that the new board members are all strong charter school advocates, and that DeSantis has selected Northwest Florida as sort of a petri dish for dismantling the public school system and replacing it with charter schools. How this would trickle down from the board and into the public school system is not fully clear. But I believe a diabolical group of people can create a step-by-step plan that the average citizen cannot even see until it’s too late. Yenor’s post seems to eerily foretell this.
