When the Florida Department of Environmental Protection proposed building lodges and golf courses in state parks, the pushback was bipartisan. However, the governor’s office didn’t say much.
- The Tampa Bay Times did report that DeSantis spokesperson Jeremy Redfern last Thursday cited Teddy Roosevelt in a statement that defended the initiative, saying “It’s high time we made public lands more accessible to the public.”
However, Gov. DeSantis said at an unrelated press conference in Winter Haven today that the proposals were leaked while they were still “half-baked,” and nothing would happen for the rest of this year, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
