DeSantis not coming to Pensacola today

Since he announced his controversial appointments to the University of West Florida Board of Trustees, Gov. Ron DeSantis has avoided Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. The closest he has come to the Pensacola area has been a presser in Destin.

The governor will not be in Pensacola this morning.

Today, Gov. DeSantis hosts a Roundtable in Sarasota at New College of Florida. His office hasn’t revealed the topic, but his guests will be U.S Border Czar Tom Homan, America First Policy Institute’s (AFPI) Center for Homeland Security & Immigration AFPI Center for Homeland Security & Immigration VP Chad Wolf and New College of Florida President Richard Corcoran.

AFPI? America First Policy Institute (AFPI) is a rightwing policy think tank and advocacy organization founded in 2021 by former advisors to President Donald Trump.

Larry Kudlow serves as Vice Chair of the Board for AFPI and as Chair of the Center for American Prosperity. He is also the host of “Kudlow” on Fox Business and “The Larry Kudlow Show” on WABC Talk Radio. He previously served as Director of the National Economic Council under President Donald Trump, where he led the domestic and global economic policy agendas.

Linda McMahon served as the board chairwoman for a time. She is now the Secretary of Education in the Trump Administration.

Chad Wolf served as Acting Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) towards the end of Trump’s first administration. He is a former Visiting Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, and currently a Member of the Texas Public Policy Foundation Border Security Coalition.
