DIB chairman John Peacock yesterday came on Pensacola Speaks to talk about future Gallery Nights.
The DIB board voted on Tuesday to limit outdoor alcohol sales during Gallery nights was an effort to prevent any incidents that might ruin the reputation of downtown Pensacola being safe. The vote was a message to downtown bar owners something needs to be done to keep the family-friendly reputation of the downtown event, and the DIB board is open to other options.
Peacock said the bar owners are meeting privately today. He will meet with them next week. Any new proposals will brought to the DIB board before the May Gallery Night.
Regardless, it appears the rules for Gallery Night will be changing.
