The Downtown Improvement Board will soon be interviewing finalists for its executive director position.
“We’ve got it down to two,†DIB Interim Director Sandra Ward said today.
One finalist is from Colorado Springs, Colo., while the other is from Columbia County, Georgia. There is also a third, alternate, candidate. Interviews will be held Jan. 30.
Troy Post is the executive director of the Development Authority of Columbia County. He touts experience working with business owners on economic development matters.
Ronald Butlin is presently the executive director of the Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs. He oversees the area’s downtown revitalization efforts, as well as an $800,000 annual budget.
The two finalists will be interviewed by the DIB’s search committee at the end of the month. The search for a new executive director coincides with the recently released report from Mayor Ashton Hayward’s Urban Redevelopment Advisory Committee, which recommended streamlining the DIB into a clerical position housed within the mayor’s office.
“The timing of this report,†DIB search committee chairman Ed Carson noted recently, “couldn’t have been worse for that particular endeavor.â€
Post and Butlin are the top two finalists from a field of more than 180 candidates.
